Suminagashi is an ancient art form dating back to the 11th century in Japan and China.  The Asians floated inks on water to produce

delicate, swirled and abstract patterns.  The images were captured

on pure silk and fine rice paper.

My fellow artist and friend Bonnie Rapetti creates these one of a kind ties and has been using this ancient art form for over 20 years.   Rapetti uses this art form for ties, scarves, clothing, and large framed art pieces.  We will soon be showing her beautiful Kimonos.  She uses her unique Suminagashi designed silk fabric and constructs one of a kind Kimonos.

Each tie is one of a kind!
